Wet Mix®

Wet Mix® is a mixture of grasses native or naturalized to the Mid-Atlantic region which can tolerate, or are adapted to survival in temporarily or seasonally saturated soils.  There are four formulations specific for 1) clay soils, 2)silty loam, 3) sandy loam, and 4) sandy soils.  A fifth formulation is available as the 'generic' mixture if soil types are unknown.  Various ratios of grasses including Red Top (Agrostis alba), Roughstalk Bluegrass (Poa trivialis), Wild Millet (Echinochloa crus-galli), and Switchgrass (Panicum virgatum) are used in the mixture.  Application rate ranges from 25 - 50 lbs. per acre, and can be hydroseeded or hand seeded.

Shore Mix®

Sylva has developed a special blend of seed for stabilizing dry, exposed shorelines and beaches.  The mix includes grasses such as "Atlantic Coastal Panic Grass (Panicum amarulum), and Switchgrass (Panicum virgatum) as well as legumes such as "Lathco" Flatpea (Lathyrus sylvestris) and Partridge Pea (Cassia fasciculata).  These species have been recognized and are recommended for shoreline stabilization by the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service.  The seed mixture should be drilled into sand, but can be hydroseeded onto steeper bluffs.  Application rate is 40 lbs. per acre.

Field & Forest Mix®

Field and Forest Mix® is a unique blend of native or naturalized  grasses and legumes designed for soil stabilization in reforestation, afforestation, and upland game bird habitat enhancement.  The mix includes Red clover (Trifolium pratense), Orchard grass (Dactylis glomeratus), Deer tongue (Panicum clandestinum), Little bluestem (Scharanjium scoparius), and Brome grass (Bromus sp.).  Application rate is 25 - 40 lbs. per acre.

Meadow Mix®

Meadow Mix® is a blend of wildflowers and grasses adapted to dry or wet areas.  Meadow Mix - Dry includes a grass mix base, amended with Penstemon, Aster, Solidago, Daucus, and Rudbeckia.  Meadow Mix - Wet also has a grass mix bas and is amended with Vernonia, Verbena hastata, Aster-novabelgii, Aster puniceus, and Lobelia cardinalis.  Application rate is 65 lbs. per acre.
